Job Description

The Environmental Manager is a member of the Environmental and Sustainability Team and is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental compliance and risk management programs across the company’s global airport portfolio. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local regulations, advances sustainability initiatives, reduces environmental liabilities, and promotes operational excellence with a hospitality- and guest-focused mindset.This position serves as an environmental subject matter expert for airport operations, including fuel storage and fueling systems, stormwater management, hazardous materials and waste, air emissions, spill prevention and response, environmental due diligence, remediation, and sustainability programs. The Environmental Manager partners closely with airport operations, facilities, legal, safety, and internal and external stakeholders to identify and mitigate environmental risks and support the company’s environmental and sustainability goals with a guest and hospitality mindset.Minimum Education and/or ExperienceBachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Management, or a related field required.Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in environmental compliance, environmental consulting, environmental engineering, remediation, or environmental risk management.Experience managing environmental compliance programs for industrial, transportation, energy, or aviation-related operations preferred.Professional certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Geologist (PG), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or other relevant environmental certifications preferred.Demonstrated knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting, environmental due diligence, remediation, sustainability reporting, and environmental management systems.Key ResponsibilitiesRegulatory ComplianceAct as the primary environmental liaison among operational leadership, airport authorities, regulators, consultants, and other stakeholders to support proactive compliance.Develop, implement, and maintain environmental compliance programs and management systems across the airport portfolio.Manage permitting, reporting, and compliance programs, including Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), industrial stormwater permits, Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, hazardous and non-hazardous waste programs, Tier II chemical inventory reporting, and other applicable requirements.Coordinate inspections, testing, and compliance activities for aboveground and underground storage tanks (ASTs and USTs), fuel farms, fueling operations, and related infrastructure.Lead environmental incident response, spill investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.Oversee remediation projects and regulatory closure activities related to soil, groundwater, and other environmental impacts.Monitor emerging regulations and industry best practices and recommend program improvements to maintain compliance and operational efficiency.Analyze compliance trends, develop performance metrics, and prepare reports for leadership and external stakeholders.Support internal and external environmental audits and manage corrective action programs.Environmental Risk ManagementManage environmental investigations and remediation involving petroleum hydrocarbons, PFAS, heavy metals, asbestos, lead-based paint, PCBs, and other contaminants.Assess environmental risks associated with airport operations, fuel storage systems, infrastructure projects, and property transactions.Review and manage environmental assessments, including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, remediation reports, and regulatory correspondence.Support environmental due diligence for property acquisitions, lease negotiations, airport development projects, and capital investments.Track environmental liabilities, corrective actions, and remediation obligations to ensure timely resolution and regulatory compliance.SustainabilitySupport sustainability, decarbonization, and environmental stewardship initiatives across the airport portfolio.Contribute to sustainability reporting, ESG disclosures, customer initiatives, and environmental performance communications.Support analysis of environmental performance metrics, including greenhouse gas emissions, energy use, water use, waste generation, waste diversion, and recycling rates.Identify opportunities to improve environmental performance through operational efficiencies, waste reduction, resource conservation, renewable energy, electrification, and sustainable aviation initiatives.Financial ResponsibilitiesDevelop, manage, and track budgets for environmental programs, including consulting, remediation, permitting, monitoring, and compliance-related costs.Review and approve environmental project expenses and consultant invoices.Identify opportunities to reduce environmental liabilities and improve program cost efficiency.Full timePosting Date: 2026-10-01
